The Strategy in South Wales tackles many of the challenges and difficulties faced by the loss of the coal-mining industry and the loss of associated jobs in the local area. It works with over 350 local people of all ages and encourages healthy living and participation in the local community. It also runs a centre for young children and their families, offering play opportunities after-school and play schemes during school holidays. There are also a wide range of projects open to local youths in the evenings and plenty of learning opportunities for adults including literacy, numeracy, IT and personal interest courses.
